NELCO and Oncology Systems Limited to Partner on U.K. and Ireland Projects

NELCO Worldwide, the leader in radiation-shielding solutions, announced a partnership with Oncology Systems Limited (OSL), the largest independent provider of radiotherapy equipment and software in the U.K. The companies will jointly pursue both new and expansion projects in the Radiation-Therapy and Diagnostic-Imaging markets in the U.K. and Ireland.

“We are pleased to partner with an industry leader whose technology plays such a crucial role for the NHS and private hospitals in the region,” said Rick LeBlanc, President and CEO of NELCO Worldwide. “Our joint efforts will help ensure the health and safety of so many people in the U.K. and Ireland.”

Complementary Products and Services for the Medical Sector

Shrewsbury, England-based OSL provides a range of radiation-therapy equipment and medical-physics software that is used around the world. Chairman of OSL Carl Pavey stated “By joining with NELCO we’re able to bring even stronger capabilities to medical facilities, where experience and expertise matter most. Our companies’ complementary offerings make this possible.”

Formed in 1999, OSL’s recently completed projects include a new laser-system installation at England’s Southampton General Hospital, a patient quality-assurance system at Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Londonderry, Northern Ireland and a suite of medical physics and patient accessories across the new Radiotherapy Village at the Cancer Centre of Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust, London.

A Positive Upturn in a Critical Sector

NELCO and OSL are seeking to take advantage of a recent upturn in the U.K. healthcare market, specifically with increased expenditures being committed to the treatment of cancer. After four consecutive years of declining activity, sector construction grew 7% in 2016 and industry analysts project 3%–5% annual growth through 2021. “The timing of our deal aligns precisely with accelerating activity in the marketplace. We’re now perfectly positioned to take advantage of these new opportunities,” said LeBlanc.
